In 597 BC he invaded Judah and captured Jerusalem and deposed its king Jehoiachin.
The stories of Solomon’s great wealth and his many wives were written at a time when Jerusalem’s population was far larger, and the people of Judah believed that there had always been so many people living in Jerusalem and its surrounds.
